Introduction

As Scandinavias largest ski travel agency, we are committed to contributing to a more sustainable world. We at Skinetworks, are skiers and Alp-lovers by nature – it is our passion, our foundation for our job and the playground in which we play. We, as a company also have a responsibility to contribute and do what we can, both with our employees in Denmark and Sweden, but also at our destinations, our hotels, among our guides and towards our guests. Our approach is based on UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals that are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

Skinetworks actively work with three sustainability goals, where we believe we can contribute and make a difference:

#3 Good Health and Well-Being

Our passion and business are based on giving our guest active vacations in the Alps, whether it is skiing in the winter or hiking, biking or otherwise being active in summer. We provide a vacation where unforgettable experiences go hand in hand with good health and wellbeing. It is important for us that all our guests in the Alps have the best time, being active and enjoying a break from everyday life. This is exactly what our Company Promise Active together is also about.

Our Service and Offering

We have the broadest product offering in the Alps and +35 years of experience making it as easy as possible for all guests to enjoy an active vacation, without having to think about the practicalities.

Our Activities and Destinations

Our guides provide activities for our guests while in the Alps. All of these have the objective of having a great time with the people around you and often while being active.

Our Workplace

At our office we go running together each week, we participate in active running events. At social events we always have an active activity. We are proud to say that 90% of all 90 Skinetworkers bike to work every day. Of course we have height adjustable tables for all, so we can stand up during the workday.

#12 Responsible Consumption and Production

Our planet has provided us with an abundance of natural resources – but we have not utilized them responsibly and currently consume far beyond what our planet can provide. It is our job to only use what we need, and of course reuse and donate what we can to others.

Our Office

We have a healthy lunch together each day, and if there are leftovers, all Skinetworkers can take it home to minimise foodwaste.

Our Uniforms

We have the past 5 years donated all used uniforms to Red Cross (after having used them again and again) and they are subsequently sent to places in need of warm outerwear. This minimises the footprint of the uniforms while supporting an outdoor life elsewhere.

Our Hotels

On our own hotels in the Alps, we are very focused on minimising our resource consumption and food waste. We buy as local as possible. We minimise deliveries. Our guests can select local organic wine and vegan menus. Daily we work on adjusting volume to minimise food waste. Locals can collect and buy leftovers.

#13 Climate Action

The world is getting hotter. As a percentage of carbon dioxide in Earth’s atmosphere rises, our planet heats up. Glaciers melt, seasons blends as winters become warmer. We want to take care of the Alps and the local environment that we and our guests love and rely on. We love the Alps, and skiing is our passion. And we have a mission to preserve the Alps so that we – and future generations – can enjoy them as we do today. The Alps and glaziers are under pressure both from global climate change, and from the increasing number of guests visiting the mountains.

Our Office

90% of all Skinetworkers hop on their bike to work. Travelling between our Aarhus & Copenhagen office is by train.

Our Guides

We transport our +500 season guides and hotel employees by bus.

Please help us: What can you do in the Alps?

Every little thing we do helps. So as a guest in the Alps, there are some things, you can do to help nature.

• Do not throw plastic, cigarettes, cans, chocolate paper or any other garbage in the Alps (or anywhere else). Only in the designated garbage cans.
• Collect garbage you find, that does not belong there. Make sure to throw it away in the designated garbage cans. Austria and France have started separating their garbage – check your destination and follow their guidelines.
• Stay on the marked slopes, because no matter how fantastic the off-piste is, it wears on the nature. If you want to ski off-piste, do it on the marked slopes. Respect nature. it is also safer;) In a lot of our destinations they have marked off-piste slopes – try them.
• Do not use plastic bottles unless necessary. Buy a reusable bottle and fill it up. The water in the Alps is drinkable, and often tastes really good.
• At our hotels you should only throw your towels at the floor, when they need to be washed.
• Don’t leave the lights and electricity on in your hotel or apartment, when you are not there.
